This is a 1950-60 museum quality Zuni squash blossom necklace by Leonard ( 1923-1992) and Lulu (1930-2004) Weebothee. The piece was gifted from well known trader Pat Read to his daughter and passed down through the family. We date the necklace by its turquoise, fine gem grade natural Blue Gem from the Blue Gem lease mine located near Battle Mountain, Nevada. This mine played out in the early 1970s but was available during the time the necklace was made. The quality of the silver work is also extraordinary, some of the finest Native American jewelry originated at Zuni Pueblo. This necklace ranks with the very best.
